Carpinteria 100 - 1997
Xx Nimmer organized the “Carpinteria 100 Car Race”. The three contestants included Nimmer, Jim Williams and Ric Wiles. Each contestant’s car were parked in a line in the middle of the lot in Bluffs #1. A line was marked on the ground , 50 feet behind the cars, and another line was drawn at 50 feet in front of the cars. The contestants lined up behind the back line and at the sign to start, they each ran the 50 feet to their cars, started them up, and drove the 50 feet to pass the finish line. There was little danger because of the short distance. Potter Jim Willaims made the prize. xx
Jungle Golf - since 1990
Nimmer often plays a game he made up called “Jungle Golf”. It can be played in any location including driveways, forests, or parking lots. Any number of people can play. All they need is a golf club (preferably something like a 9 iron) and a golf ball. Somebody makes up the first hole. It might be something like, “the red flower pot”. The first person tees off for one turn. Then the next person aims for the flower pot and so forth. When all have gone, the first person get’s the next turn and so on. Who ever hit’s the flower pot first wins (or ties with someone else if they each take the same amount of turns. The winner of that round chooses the next “hole” and it can include things like, it has to go around the green car first.
Video Guestbook (library stories)
Nimmer developed the Video guest book to allow people to easily leave video comments at a wedding, library, restaurant or other venue. He used a tablet and existing software and a stand. The user only needs to tap the screen once to start recording and a second tap stops the recording that is recorded to the tablet.

BOAT GAME (on bed)
Nimmer played this game with his kids and now grandkids. Nimmer is the pirate captain of the boat as he pretends to navigate a pirate ship as he sits in the middle of a bed. The kids start in the ocean (on the floor) and try to take over the ship by climbing on the bed, one at a time and try to push Grandpa into the ocean, (off the bed). Nimmer tries to push them back in the ocean and if they touch the floor, they are temporarily frozen. As they grapple, if a kid touches Nimmer’s right ear, he loses his power and flops in place. He’s powerless for 5 seconds unless he can get somebody to tap his chin, and then he gets his power back and fends off the next kid.
MAN ON THE STREET (COLUMN) 1997
The weekly column is intended to give all people equal weight in having their take on life. It’s published once a week in the Carpinteria Coastal View News. Nimmer started the column in 1997 and called it the “Man on the Street”. He used the commonly used term in
Tv news for asking random people questions. Over time, he was happy to adorn the moniker as the Man on the Street in Carpinteria. He also answers the question this week and takes the opportunity to reveal one of his flaw to let others know they are not alone. He also tries to use answers that either entertain or inform and make readers feel better about themselves.
